One of the wonderful things about the Lemon Lily Festival is that it is well-supported by a community of wonderful volunteers. Each of the folks that you’ll find donating their time and of themselves have the following characteristics:
- Environmentally conscious
- The proud owner of a friendly smile and a great attitude
- Possesses skills and commitment to “make it happen”
Our volunteers come from all walks of life ranging from doctors, lawyers, scientists, hikers, rock-climbers, botanists, writers, artists, and those who are in public service and more. Nearly anyone can help! We even have scout troops who earn badges by helping. You don’t have to volunteer huge amounts of time, even a few hours can be a tremendous help.
Here’s a word from the Lemon Lily Committee President George Ray,
“Shortly after purchasing a home in Big Cedar Glen area next to Lily Creek & the Nature Center, I discovered the Nature Center. Soon I began hiking the NC trails and became acquainted with the staff and volunteers. I was quite impressed with the facility and its people and decided to become involved.
The Nature Center is and hopefully will remain a source of pleasure for many people and a refuge for native wildlife. It is a local treasure. I enjoy a great deal of satisfaction in working with other people in a joint effort to improve the facility and programs offered by the Nature Center.”
